What To Do About Thinning Hair?

What To Do About Thinning Hair?

We all love thick, full hair and want it for our very own. Watching celebrities, we often envy their hair. It's long, luscious, thick and just perfectly styled.

We may have had beautiful hair when we were younger, but as we age so does our hair. It thins, becomes brittle, breaks, splits and turns grey. But knowing why and what we can do about it the start. Firstly, anyone over 30 will eventually have thinner, finer hair. But keeping hair follicles healthy is the first step.

Many solutions and problems can be traced back to diet. Eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon and flaxseeds, as well as dark green vegetables, which are strong sources of vitamins A and C, needed by the follicles to produce sebum, which is hair’s natural conditioner. Also, eating eggs, beans and poultry are all foods that help with healthy hair. Eat high-protein, low-fat, low-carb foods, as well as taking the recommended 5,000 micrograms of biotin (a B vitamin) daily had been shown to help promote healthy hair growth.

Keratin Smoothing treatments are a great solution for thinning hair. This procedure coats your hair with the same protein that our hair and nails are made of. This leaves the hair stronger, smoother and less prone to damage and splitting. You can still color your hair with Keratin treatments, so no need to worry about gray.

Using Protein-laced styling products are another great option. As your hair thins, it gets weaker and less able to support its own weight, leading to breakage and loss. "Protein fortifies the hair shaft. It can actually stick itself into hair and pull splitting sections together.

Keratin Treatments are a great way to smooth and tame the hair. Curly and Wavy hair will still keep its texture but it will be more manageable. Frizziness and humidity will not wreck havoc on your style. Your blowdry time will be practically cut in half and your hair will be gorgeous. We offer Brazilian blowout and Keratin Complex as options in our Salon. We've found that ladies with extremely over-processed, damaged and unhealthy hair have seen immediate results.

Lastly, hair extensions. Hair extensions are an immediate fix. They will replace lost strands and thickness the same day. As you take other measures to regrow hair, you don't have to feel self-conscious about your hair loss. Hair extensions are a great non-damaging way to add length and fullness to thinning hair. A number of techniques exist so you don't have to worry about them showing. There are quite a few available options. The owner at Locks and Lashes Salon, a hair salon in Charlotte, NC is trained in 20 different techniques.

"I've always loved extensions. I love the versatility they give and the way they enable you to completely change your look. You can simply enhance what you naturally have or be glamorous with long, luscious locks." says Kadi, Locks And Lashes Salon owner.

Locks and Lashes Salon is a full service Charlotte based Salon that offers cuts & color but specializes in hair extensions. Whether you're looking for a new salon or you'd like to add some fullness, you'll be happy with the services.

How To Keep Your BlowOut Fresh For A Week

How To: Make Your BlowOut Last

It’s almost holiday season, the busiest time of year, which means you hardly have time to swipe on lipstick, much less blow out your hair. Since looking anything less than gorgeous isn’t an option, we’ve come up with a creative solution. Below is our ultimate guide to making your blow out last an entire week.

The Blowout

Tip: When you’re getting a blowout at a salon, ask the stylist to use little or no product. A drop or two of serum to protect from the heat and smooth frizz should be sufficient; any more and you’ll be weighed down with product by the end of the week. If you’re doing it yourself, take time to really do it right, with a diffuser and round brush.

Day 1

We know it's hard, but don't touch your hair. Touching it stimulates oil production and the oil for your hands will start to weigh it down. You'll lose volume and we don't want that! We know it's old school but, Before bed, wrap hair loosely in a silk scarf.

Day 2

Your hair should still be in pretty good condition today. Use a comb to part hair an inch or two further to the side for some extra volume. Again, avoid touching!

Day 3

By now, your hair is probably starting to look and feel a bit limp. Revive roots with a restyling spray like Kenra's Daily Defense leave in conditioner. Spray it on your roots before using a round brush and hairdryer to refresh your strands. Trust us, it’s not cheating.

Day 4

Dry shampoo is your best friend. We like to use a powder version like MoroccanOil Dry Shampoo, which comes in light and dark and effectively soaks up excess oil and makes roots look fresh. Apply it to the crown of your head and then let it sit for a minute before brushing hair to remove any signs of the powder.

Day 5

One of the best reasons to skip shampoo is that it’s much easier to style dirty hair. Unwashed hair has the texture to stay in place, plus pesky flyaways won’t get in the way. Apply more dry shampoo at your roots as well as a MoroccanOil's heat protectant before curling hair with a curling iron. Bouncy waves will camouflage any dirtiness.

Day 6

When we think of dirty hair, we think of perfect braids. Without wispies and flyaways to worry about, your plaits are better than ever and no one will realize you haven’t washed in days.

Day 7

You finally made it! Before you run for the shower we have one more style up our sleeve. Use a texturizing dry shampoo like MoroccanOil Dry Shampoo Spray to majorly boost your volume and create a trendy topknot.
We hope this helped to give you great ideas and alternatives to keep your Blowout looking fabulous, styled and gorgeous. We want you to be beautiful with little to no time and effort.
